LETTERPRESS PRINTED MEMO PAD:

A luxurious memo pad with letterpressed grid pages encased in a marbled cover. Part of Attaché, a Hightide collection featuring marbled patterns with sophisticated gold accents. Each interior page has been hand-printed to reveal the subtle textures of the “blind” grid, without the use of ink. Superior quality pages called “OK Fools” are buttery on the tip of a fountain pen, calligraphy brush, ballpoint pen, or pencil, allowing no bleed-through.

About letterpress printing:

Letterpress printing is a printing technique in which type cast from lead alloy is typeset and printed using the principle of stamps. A blank area called "komono" is created between thin plates called a ruled line, and typesetting, in which each character is picked up and combined to form a grid rule, is printed on a valuable printing press made in Japan in the early Meiji period that does not use electricity and is powered by human power. After many subtle adjustments, ink is placed on a roller and pressed. The deep taste and warmth of the hands of craftsmen, the uneven touch, the uneven ink, and the slightly different texture of each sheet are also attractive and unique to letterpress printing.

This is a collaboration with Fukuoka''s small but historic printing shop "Bunrindo". Bunrindo, Yoshiyuki Yamada He re-founded the printing company "Bunrindo" inherited from his father in Fukuoka City in 1972. In order to convey the history and charm of letterpress printing, they are engaged in various activities such as workshops and performances. He is a craftsman who is still active and continues to make products.
