The Eboya Houga Kuroi Black Large Fountain Pen, crafted by Eboya, combines high-quality ebonite with a 14K gold nib to deliver elegance and performance in every stroke. Includes premium paulownia wood box.
The Eboya Houga Kuroi Black Large Fountain Pen is a masterpiece created by Eboya, the last factory dedicated to ebonite production in Japan. Each piece reflects a commitment to traditional craftsmanship and continuous innovation. The use of ebonite—one of the first polymers ever discovered—lends this pen a unique aesthetic: ebonite is produced by vulcanizing pure rubber with sulfur (between 25% and 50%), and its name derives from ebony, which it began to replace in certain applications due to its durability and natural shine. The kuroi color (Japanese for “black”) highlights the purity and sobriety of the Japanese minimalist design, ideal for those seeking elegance and functionality in every stroke.
The Houga model corresponds to the classic “Cigar” shapes, featuring pure lines and a cylindrical form that evokes authentic Japanese minimalism. Engraved on its body, as with all brand pieces, is “Eboya Made in Tokyo,” a seal of quality and origin. “Houga” means “to sprout” or “to emerge” in Japanese, reflecting Eboya’s desire for their pens to bring fresh and surprising experiences to every customer. The perfect assembly of all its parts, combined with the deep hue of its ebonite, results in a piece of great beauty and lasting quality.
Equipped with a 14K gold nib, this pen delivers a smooth, consistent ink flow, ideal for daily writing, calligraphy, or quick sketches. The filling system uses a cartridge/converter (international standard type), allowing the user to choose between convenience or versatility. Its ergonomic design—with an 18 mm barrel diameter and a total length of 150 mm—combined with a balanced weight of 34 g, offers a stable and comfortable writing experience, regardless of session length.

Eboya, founded in Tokyo, is the last factory in Japan exclusively dedicated to producing ebonite fountain pens. Its legacy is based on the fusion of centuries-old traditions and modern vulcanization techniques, offering products that combine durability, aesthetics, and functionality. The name “Houga” symbolizes sprouting and emergence, inviting you to experience something new and extraordinary each time you write. Each pen is born from a collaboration between leather and paper artisans, and the engraving “Eboya Made in Tokyo” on the pen body is witness to its origin and excellence.
"Let each stroke sprout with strength: carry the elegance and spirit of Tokyo in every word."
