Beige ebonite fountain pen inspired by the divine dragon. Features a black cap for contrast, 14K gold nib, complimentary ink bottle and paulownia wood box from Inktraveler.
Eboya is the last remaining ebonite manufacturer in Japan. Each pen embodies the harmony between traditional craftsmanship and material excellence. Ebonite —one of the earliest polymers— is made by vulcanizing pure rubber with sulfur (25% to 50%), creating a naturally resilient and beautiful material. The name "ebonite" comes from ebony, its original alternative in luxury manufacturing. Each pen is engraved with Eboya Made in Tokyo, a hallmark of quality and origin.
The Kobue model, meaning “little flute,” is one of the most recent designs from Eboya. It features two continuous curves that form a smooth, ergonomic silhouette. The clipless design emphasizes balance, minimalism, and tactile elegance. The color Shinryou (神龍), officially described as beige, takes its name from the mythological Shenlong (simplified Chinese: 神龙; traditional Chinese: 神龍; pinyin: shén lóng, literally "god dragon" or "divine dragon", Japanese: 神龍 Shinryū)—the divine dragon of Chinese lore, master of storms and rain, and guardian of harmony in nature. This celestial creature was believed to influence the fate of emperors and agriculture. The same name inspired the powerful Shinryu in the Final Fantasy video game saga, often portrayed as a final boss representing overwhelming strength. This beige-toned ebonite edition evokes the calm and power of the dragon deity. Each piece is unique, with natural marbling and subtle variations.
Fitted with a carefully tuned 14K gold nib crafted by the artisans at Nikko Ebonite Manufacturing, the Shinryou delivers a smooth, balanced and expressive writing experience. It uses a standard international cartridge or converter, compatible with Pelikan and Rotring (not compatible with Montblanc, Waterman or Caran d’Ache). Each pen is hand-polished and assembled in Tokyo. The precise construction and feel make it a tool of both beauty and reliability.

Eboya is the flagship brand of Nikko Ebonite Manufacturing, founded in 1952 and known as Japan’s last ebonite specialist. For decades, the company has supplied this material to leading brands such as Sailor and Pilot. In 2009, it launched its own collection of fountain pens, combining technical expertise with refined Japanese design. Until 2016, production was led by master turner Noritoshi Kanesaki, disciple of the legendary nibmeister Kubo Kohei. Today, Eboya continues to create pens that are elegant, durable, and unmistakably unique.
"A pen that channels the calm strength of a divine dragon into every stroke."
