The Eboya Kobue Yakou Night Harbour is handcrafted in Tokyo from dark marbled ebonite inspired by the reflections of a night harbour. Compact and clipless, it features a 14k gold nib for smooth and precise writing. Includes Pelikan converter, cartridge, complimentary ink bottle, and paulownia wood box.
Eboya, the last workshop in Japan dedicated to the production of ebonite. Each piece reflects a commitment to traditional craftsmanship and continuous innovation. Ebonite—one of the earliest polymers discovered—is obtained by vulcanizing pure rubber with sulfur (between 25% and 50%). Its name comes from ebony, which it began to replace in specific applications thanks to its strength and natural shine. Engraved on the body, as with all Eboya pens, is Eboya Made in Tokyo, a testament to its origin and excellence.
The Kobue model—meaning “small flute”—is characterized by its compact silhouette and seamless lines, without a clip, emphasizing its minimalist aesthetic. The Yakou Night Harbour edition combines a dark base with marbled accents that evoke the reflections and atmosphere of a harbor at night. Its subtle elegance and rarity outside Japan make it a distinctive and highly valued writing instrument. The flawless assembly of all its parts, together with the color of the ebonite, results in a pen of outstanding beauty and quality.
Fitted with a 14k gold nib adjusted by the craftsmen of Nikko Ebonite Manufacturing, it ensures smooth, precise, and controlled writing. It accepts international standard cartridges and converters, compatible with a wide variety of inks. Its compact size and well-balanced body make the Kobue an excellent companion for everyday writing.

Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or humidity. Store in a cool, dry place. Occasionally wipe with a soft, dry cloth to preserve the natural ebonite finish.
Eboya is the flagship brand of Nikko Ebonite Manufacturing, founded in 1952 and recognized as Japan’s last specialist in ebonite. For decades, the company supplied this material to writing houses such as Sailor and Pilot. In 2009 it launched its own fountain pen line, combining technical expertise and aesthetic refinement. Until 2016, production was overseen by master turner Noritoshi Kanesaki, a disciple of the legendary nibmeister Kubo Kohei. Today, Eboya continues to create durable and comfortable writing instruments with unmistakable finishes.
“Like a harbour illuminated at night, the Yakou Night Harbour accompanies every word with an aura of calm and mystery.”
