The Nagasawa 141st Anniversary Swell Amber Marble is a commemorative edition limited to just 40 pieces, created to mark a new chapter in the long history of Nagasawa Bungu Center, founded in 1882. The name Swell symbolizes a rising and falling wave—constant in motion, powerful and full of vitality—representing Nagasawa’s hope for strength, renewal and continuity into the future. This fountain pen is not only an anniversary model, but an object that embodies evolution, energy and aspiration.
The pen uses the same body mold introduced in the 120th Anniversary model, highlighting over twenty years of refinement and craftsmanship. Its acrylic body reveals unique patterns formed during the cutting and polishing process, ensuring that no two pens are alike. The Amber Marble color is inspired by one of Nagasawa’s most beloved inks: Kobe INK No. 8 Arima Amber, known for its warm, luminous depth and connection to the golden tones characteristic of the Arima district.
Design and concept
The cap features a wide metal ring engraved with NAGASAWA Since 1882, adding mass and balance to the center of the pen. The end finial bears the individual serial number (unselectable), while the cap top is engraved with “141st,” reinforcing its commemorative status. The overall design reflects the aesthetics of Nagasawa’s anniversary editions: elegant, substantial and rich in symbolic nuance.
Nib and writing experience
Equipped with a large 21K gold nib engraved with the signature Nagasawa weathervane, the Swell Amber Marble offers smooth, controlled writing performance. The Medium point provides an excellent balance between expressiveness and everyday usability, making it suitable for journaling, correspondence and long writing sessions.
Functionality and filling system
The pen uses a cartridge/converter system (converter included). To fully appreciate the warm tones of the Amber Marble finish and the smoothness of the 21K nib, we recommend pairing it with high-quality Japanese paper.
