Specifically, the alloy used in the "Soft" nibs of the 743 provides exceptional smoothness and a consistent ink flow that won't falter even with bold signatures.

The "Soft" nibs are available in F, MF, and M sizes.

Pilot never fails me, and neither do the lovely people at Inktra

I own pens of all three major Japanese brands (Sailor, Pilot, Platinum) and Pilot is by far my favorite brand of the three. I don't know how Pilot do it, but they manage to tune every nib perfectly out of the box. Both my 743 and my 823 came with a very juicy, well adjusted nib. Inktraveler doesn't only offer Pilot pens/nibs you'll have a hard time finding anywhere else outside of Japan, but they offer them at really competitive prices to boot.
