Taccia Tamamizu Urushi Ryokuei Fountain Pen: ebonite body with Ryokuei green Urushi lacquer, two-tone 14K gold nib by Sailor, 150 mm length, 30 g weight, accepts Sailor cartridge or converter.
The Taccia Tamamizu Urushi Ryokuei Fountain Pen belongs to the 玉水漆万年筆 (“Tamamizu Urushi Fountain Pen”) series, which evokes abundant mountain water captured in Urushi lacquer. The term “Ryokuei (緑影)” comes from the reflection of young plants on the river’s surface, creating a vibrant green. This design combines traditional brush‐painted water motifs with multiple layers of clear lacquer, achieving a glossy finish that shifts in appearance as light interacts with the surface.
The barrel and cap are turned from ebonite and then coated with Ryokuei green Urushi lacquer. First, the water pattern is painted by hand with a brush, then successive layers of clear lacquer are applied and polished repeatedly. Each lacquer‐dry‐polish cycle accentuates the two‐tone contrast. The result is a pen that captures the serenity of flowing water and the freshness of vegetation, offering subtle color shifts depending on the light’s angle.
Equipped with a two‐tone 14K gold nib, manufactured and finished by Sailor in Japan, this fountain pen delivers a smooth and consistent ink flow—ideal for everyday writing and more elaborate calligraphy, depending on the chosen nib. Its filling system accommodates either a Sailor cartridge or converter, giving users the flexibility to choose convenience or bottle‐ink refills. The airtight threading allows the cap to be posted and unposted in a single turn, ensuring a perfect seal and immediate readiness. With a body diameter of 13.8 mm and a total length of 150 mm, this 30 g pen strikes the ideal balance between portability and stability for extended writing sessions.
Taccia is a Japanese brand specializing in fountain pens, inks, and pen cases made from kimono fabrics. Founded in 2003 by Shu-Jen Lin in California, Taccia’s mission was to introduce traditional Japanese decorative techniques—such as Urushi lacquer, raden (mother‐of‐pearl), ebonite bodies, and minimalist design—to the United States and Canada.
In 2011, Itoya’s American division acquired Taccia and appointed Shu-Jen Lin as Brand Manager to ensure continuity in design and style. Since April 1, 2018, Taccia has been part of Nakabayashi (established in 1923 in Osaka), preserving its Japanese essence and relying exclusively on Sailor for nib manufacturing. Attention to detail is evident in the precise cap fit and the Urushi lacquer applied to the grip section in some pieces. Each pen is presented in a refined case to ensure protection and impeccable presentation.
Taccia stands behind its products with a Limited Lifetime Mechanical Warranty for the original owner. This warranty covers defects in materials or workmanship for the life of the product. It does not cover damage resulting from user abuse, misuse, or any non‐factory alterations.
