MIDORI Stand Calendar with Wooden Base 2027

The MIDORI Stand Calendar with Wooden Base 2027 pairs twelve illustrated calendar cards with a narrow engraved stand. Its vertical format provides a clear monthly reference without taking over the desk. It is an ideal choice for dog or cat lovers and anyone who wants a compact calendar that also works as a changing piece of Japanese illustration.

Two designs are available: Dog and Cat. Each contains the same number of cards and covers the same dated period, but the artwork, illustrator, language details and engraving on the wooden base are specific to the selected design.

Dog artwork by Natsumi Teraoka

The Dog edition features original artwork by Natsumi Teraoka. Its 2027 theme follows a year spent living with dogs, moving between familiar domestic moments and scenes beyond the everyday routine. Seasonal colours change from month to month as rounded, expressive dogs read, rest, play and quietly share the space.

Month numbers and dates have a hand-drawn appearance, reinforcing the warmth of the illustrations. Weekdays use familiar English abbreviations, and Sundays are printed in red for quick recognition. The front of the wooden stand is finished with a small engraved dog.

Cat artwork by Sayo Koizumi

The Cat edition is illustrated by Sayo Koizumi and explores twelve months with cats at home. Each card captures a different domestic scene: cats noticing small movements, investigating objects, resting or turning an ordinary corner into a place of their own.

The light drawing style and restrained colour palette keep the cats’ behaviour at the centre of each composition. Dates use Arabic numerals, while the month and weekday labels appear in Japanese characters. Sundays remain highlighted in red, so the calendar can still be read easily through its numerical layout.

An engraved silhouette of a resting cat identifies the wooden base. Within Inktraveler’s selection, this small permanent detail is especially appealing because the character of the chosen design remains visible when the monthly card is changed.

Twelve changing illustrations

Every month has its own separate card, combining a compact calendar with a large illustration. Replacing the front card at the beginning of each month reveals a new seasonal composition, giving the calendar the feel of a small rotating gallery.

Weeks begin on Sunday. The layout is designed for checking dates rather than maintaining a detailed written schedule, as it does not provide large appointment boxes. Its main strengths are immediate reference, illustration and compact display.

An engraved wooden stand for small spaces

The twelve cards sit vertically inside a slotted wooden base with a visible natural texture. The stand raises the calendar from the desk and keeps it easy to view without requiring rings, a rear support or a large footprint. It can fit naturally on a workspace, shelf, reception counter or narrow table.

MIDORI advises keeping all twelve cards in the wooden base throughout the year. Used cards should remain with the set rather than being permanently removed, as the complete group helps the calendar stand with the intended balance.

Boxed presentation

The calendar is supplied in a protective clear box containing the cards and wooden base. Its compact presentation and choice of animal design make it suitable as a gift for pet lovers, stationery collectors or anyone who enjoys bringing understated illustration into a working space.

Contents and presentation

MIDORI history and design philosophy

MIDORI was founded in Japan in 1950 as a producer of writing paper and envelopes. The brand has continued to create stationery in which paper, design and everyday function are combined with a clear, understated visual identity.

This stand calendar turns a practical date reference into a miniature monthly gallery. Original artwork, hand-drawn numbers and an engraved wooden base make the passing seasons visible without adding unnecessary bulk to the desk.

“Twelve months, twelve scenes and a quiet companion for every day of the year.”
