The Eboya Tanpen Light Pink Fountain Pen, crafted by Eboya, pairs vibrant ebonite with a 14K gold nib and a compact 97 mm closed length (131 mm posted). Includes a paulownia wood case and complimentary ink bottle.
The Eboya Tanpen Light Pink Fountain Pen is a blend of elegance and portability created by Eboya, the last factory dedicated to ebonite fountain pens in Japan. Ebonite was one of the first discovered polymers, obtained by vulcanizing pure rubber with sulfur (between 25 % and 50 %). Its name comes from ebony, as it could replace it in some applications due to its properties, and initially its color was black. In the Tan pen model, you can now find vibrant, glossy tones that make them particularly attractive.
“Tan pen” translates to “small pen,” and this model evolves from the brand’s classic references into a convenient travel fountain pen. When the cap is fully posted onto the barrel, its total length becomes 131 mm, providing a compact size without sacrificing writing comfort. The light pink finish offers a modern, youthful touch inspired by crayon color variations.
Equipped with a 14K gold nib, this pen allows for fine-detail writing and complex kanji characters thanks to its small tip. The filling system uses a short international cartridge (standard type) and is not compatible with long cartridges or converters. With a 12 mm barrel diameter and weighing just 11 g, it is extremely lightweight and easy to handle. Its 97 mm closed length makes it ideal to carry on the go: small yet comfortable.

Eboya is the flagship brand of Nikko Ebonite Mfg, Japan’s last remaining manufacturer specializing in this noble material. Since 1952, this family-run company has supplied ebonite to major writing instrument makers. In 2009, they launched their own line of fountain pens to unite technical expertise with refined aesthetics. Each pen is made in their Tokyo workshop, with an unwavering dedication to quality and detail. Their legacy combines traditional vulcanization methods with excellent craftsmanship to produce writing instruments that endure.
The Tanpen model reflects the brand’s evolution toward lighter, travel-friendly pens with refined Japanese design.
"A small pen with a big heart—carry the quality and spirit of Tokyo wherever you go."
