The name Houga (萌芽) means “bud” or “germination,” symbolizing the moment new life breaks through after winter. It represents growth, renewal, and the quiet energy of beginnings. This concept is expressed through a classic torpedo—or cigar—shape, with clean lines and balanced proportions that convey stability and fluidity.
The Wakaba (若葉) version features the official Yellowgreen color (黄緑), inspired by the fresh tone of young spring leaves. The body is crafted from marbled ebonite developed by Nikko Ebonite Manufacturing, using a black ebonite base. The marbling is created by hand through the careful layering of raw rubber and colored material, a complex process that ensures every pen displays a unique and non-repeating pattern. The Large size stands out for its presence in the hand and its well-balanced feel.
Functionality and Filling System
Fitted with a carefully tuned 14K gold nib, the Eboya Houga Wakaba Large delivers a smooth, fluid, and stable writing experience. It uses an international cartridge/converter filling system (European type), compatible with converters such as those from Pelikan (recommended). The larger body diameter (18 mm) enhances grip comfort and helps reduce hand fatigue, making this pen especially suitable for long writing sessions.
