The Eboya Kyouka Tanshin Red True Heart Medium Fountain Pen is a masterpiece created by Eboya, the last factory in Japan dedicated to ebonite production. Each example reflects a commitment to tradition and continuous innovation. The ebonite body—one of the first polymers ever discovered—is produced by vulcanizing pure rubber with sulfur (between 25% and 50%), and its name derives from ebony due to its durability and natural lustre.
Concept & Design
This pen’s Kyouka model is a true classic—an Onoto type fountain pen inspired by the 1918 design—and, as with all brand pieces, it bears the engraving Eboya Made in Tokyo. Traditional ONOTO type fountain pens. The name “KYOUKA” comes from “KYOUKASUIGETSU (鏡花水月),” which means “flower in the mirror” or “moon reflected in water”—a subtle and elusive image symbolizing something rare and precious.The “Red True Heart” finish evokes passion and authenticity, making it the perfect writing instrument for those who seek a vibrant aesthetic and flawless functionality. The perfect assembly of all its parts, combined with the deep red hue of its ebonite, results in a piece of exceptional beauty and lasting quality that stands the test of time.
Functionality & Filling System
Equipped with a medium 14K gold nib, this pen delivers a smooth, consistent ink flow ideal for daily writing, light calligraphy, or quick sketches. The filling system uses a cartridge/converter (international standard type), giving the user the choice between convenience or versatility. With an overall length of 156 mm, a barrel diameter of 15 mm, and a balanced weight of 34 g, the ergonomics provide a stable and comfortable writing experience no matter how long your session lasts. A converter is included, and Inktraveler also provides a gift ink bottle.
