The Platinum Ink Cleaner Kit – European Size is designed for fountain pens that use the international standard cartridge or converter system. Unlike the official Japanese kit (ICL-1200), this version is intended to maintain European fountain pens and others that do not use the proprietary Platinum system (Pelikan, Montblanc,etc).

Kit contents

• Dropper with adapter for international standard cartridge/converter.
• 5 sachets of powdered cleaning solution (10 ml each).
• User manual with instructions.

Things to prepare

• A cup of 180–200 ml.
• A soft cloth that may be dirtied during cleaning.

Recommended usage

1. Remove the ink cartridge or converter, leaving the nib and feed attached to the section.
2. Attach the cleaning dropper firmly to the section.
3. Inhale and expel clean water from the cup several times through the nib and feed to rinse out ink residue.
4. Dissolve 1 sachet (10 ml) of cleaning powder in 100 ml of lukewarm water (about half of a 180 ml cup).
5. Immerse the nib, section, and feed in the cleaning solution for 24 hours (2–3 hours if lightly soiled).
6. After soaking, rinse the parts thoroughly with running water until only clean water flows out.
7. Gently dry with a soft cloth.
8. For best results, reattach the dropper filled with clean water and repeat the process of inhaling and expelling about 10 times to flush out any remaining residue.
