The MIDORI Sticky Notes Pop-up Pen combine Japanese stationery design with practical everyday functionality. Their partially raised fountain pen illustration creates a subtle three-dimensional effect ideal for planners, journaling, gifts and handwritten notes. This set includes 20 die-cut adhesive sheets inspired by the atmosphere of handwriting and fountain pen culture.
The MIDORI Sticky Notes Pop-up Pen transform an everyday reminder into a small visual detail full of charm. Their partially raised design allows the fountain pen illustration to gently lift above the page, creating a subtle three-dimensional effect that adds warmth and personality to planners, letters, gifts or creative workspaces. Ideal for stationery lovers, fountain pen users and anyone who enjoys journaling and handwritten communication.
MIDORI created this pop-up sticky note series with a delicate balance between functionality and visual design, where die-cut details and volume become part of the writing experience itself. In this model, the fountain pen illustration rises slightly when the note is peeled away, creating a soft and pleasant dimensional effect on the page or desk.
The overall composition conveys a calm and personal atmosphere inspired by the small gestures of everyday handwriting. Soft lines, warm tones and carefully designed details make these sticky notes especially appealing for people who enjoy Japanese stationery and fountain pens. At Inktraveler, we find it particularly interesting how accessories like these can transform a simple reminder into something more personal and human.
These sticky notes are designed for many different uses: short messages, temporary bookmarks, planner reminders, notebook decoration, gift wrapping or creative journaling projects. Their compact format makes them easy to use in planners, notebooks or workspaces without taking up too much space.
The adhesive backing works well on smooth and clean surfaces, while the raised design adds a small element of surprise when opening a notebook or receiving a handwritten message. The paper surface is also compatible with pencils, ballpoint pens and many fountain pen inks, although wetter inks may require slightly longer drying times.

Are the raised parts fragile?
No, the die-cut structure is designed to lift gently when the note is peeled away. However, MIDORI recommends removing each sheet slowly to avoid damaging the raised section.
Can they be used with fountain pens?
Yes. Drying time may vary depending on the ink and nib flow, but they work especially well with pencils, ballpoint pens and moderate-flow fountain pens.
Where do they adhere best?
These sticky notes work best on smooth, clean and dry surfaces. Adhesion may decrease on rough, dusty or humid materials.
MIDORI was founded in Japan in 1950 under the name Midori Shokai Co., Ltd. Its very first product was letter paper decorated with a traditional courier symbol, establishing from the beginning a close connection with writing and personal communication. The word “Midori”, meaning “green” in Japanese, was chosen to represent the strength of a plant spreading its leaves across a field, an image of growth and evolution that still reflects the brand today.
During the 1950s and 1960s, MIDORI began developing business diaries, undated planners and compact memo pads designed to give users greater flexibility. Products such as the 1961 Diamond Memo became revolutionary in Japanese stationery by allowing writing on both sides of each page within a pocket-sized format aimed at professionals and students.
From the 1970s and 1980s onward, the company expanded its creative universe with decorative stickers, correspondence products, illustrated diaries and desk accessories combining functionality with Japanese design. MIDORI also developed products recognised with Good Design Awards, establishing a philosophy where everyday objects could bring beauty, emotion and warmth into daily life.
In later decades, some of MIDORI’s best-known international collections appeared, including PAPER CRAFT, Kami Series, MD Notebook and TRAVELER’S notebook, introduced in 2006 and later developed into an independent brand under the name TRAVELER’S COMPANY. All of these products share the same idea: improving the experience of writing, organising and communicating through carefully selected materials, functional design and deep attention to detail.
“Handwriting still has the ability to make even the smallest messages feel more human.”
