The Midori Ink Collection A Paintable Pre-Inked Stamp helps you create a clear, organised record of your fountain pen inks. Its layout provides space for the brand, series, colour and nib used, alongside illustrated areas for adding ink samples. The built-in oil-based black ink works with water-based markers and provides approximately 1,000 impressions. No separate ink pad is required, and the stamp can be refilled with official MIDORI black refill ink.
The Midori Ink Collection A Paintable Pre-Inked Stamp turns each fountain pen ink into a visual record that is easy to identify and preserve. Its design allows you to record the details of each ink, add a colour sample and remember which nib or writing instrument produces your preferred result. It is an especially practical tool for organising a fountain pen ink collection and creating a personal catalogue in a notebook, journal or memo pad.
The stamped design includes spaces for recording the brand, collection or series, colour name and recommended nib. Illustrations of an ink bottle and a writing nib provide areas where the colour can be added, making it easier to compare similar shades and remember how each ink behaves with different writing instruments.
Each impression can be used as an individual record or repeated throughout a notebook to create an organised ink swatch book. It is also useful for documenting new inks, testing colour and pen combinations or keeping track of the fountain pens that are currently inked.
The stamp contains its own supply of black ink, so no separate ink pad is required. Simply remove the cap, place the stamp on a flat surface and press it down evenly with both hands. Its square body makes positioning easier and produces a detailed impression in a single movement.
The built-in ink supply provides approximately 1,000 impressions. Its stackable design also allows several stamps from the collection to be stored together without taking up unnecessary space.
When the ink runs out, the stamp can easily be refilled with official Midori refills such as the Midori Black Ink Refill for Paintable Stamp.
You can see how the series works in this official Midori video on YouTube.
The stamp uses black oil-based pigment ink. This formulation allows the stamped design to be coloured with water-based markers without smudging the black outlines. The details remain clear while the ink bottle, nib and other areas are personalised with colour.
To create a fountain pen ink catalogue, add the corresponding colour to the illustrated areas and complete the information by hand. Drying time and absorption may vary according to the paper, so it is advisable to test the stamp first and wait until the black impression is completely dry before applying other colours.
1. Remove the cap and place the stamp completely flat on the paper.
2. Press down evenly with both hands. Firmer or slightly longer pressure will produce a darker impression.
3. Allow the black ink to dry, then complete the record with the name, series and colour of the ink.
4. Add the colour sample and record the nib or writing instrument used for the test.

MIDORI began in Japan in 1950 as a manufacturer of writing paper and envelopes. The word midori means “green” in Japanese and was chosen to symbolise the strength of a plant spreading its leaves as it grows. From its first paper products, the company expanded its range to include notebooks, diaries and stationery tools in which functionality and design form part of the same experience.
The Paintable Stamp collection was introduced in 2020 to make decorating notebooks, diaries, cards and gift wrapping easier and more enjoyable. Its hand-drawn designs allow expressive compositions to be created with a single impression and then personalised with colour. Ink Collection A brings this philosophy to the world of inks and writing instruments, combining organisation, memory and creativity in a compact object.
“Every ink holds a story; this stamp gives it a place to be recorded.”
