Nagasawa Kobe Ink Monogatari Bokkou is a black fountain pen ink with a subtle incense scent. Developed by Sailor for Nagasawa, it combines deep color, smooth flow, and a refined sensory writing experience. 50 ml bottle. Made in Japan.
The Nagasawa Kobe Ink Monogatari Bokkou is one of the colors of the Kobe INK Monogatari series, the first original ink project developed by Nagasawa Bungu Center in collaboration with Sailor. Its deep black tone is paired with a subtle incense fragrance, designed to enrich the writing experience and turn each stroke into a calm, intentional act. Ideal for those who seek more than just color on paper.
The name Bokkou refers to “sumi incense,” evoking the characteristic scent traditionally associated with solid ink used in Japanese calligraphy. Monogatari (ものがたり) means “story” or “tale,” a word deeply rooted in Japanese culture. Within this ink series, it represents the idea that each color is meant to tell a personal story through writing.
This ink features a gentle incense aroma that can be noticed when uncapping the pen or while writing. It is not overpowering, but soft and calming, reminiscent of an environment dedicated to shodō (しょどう, Japanese calligraphy). The combination of black ink and fragrance transforms everyday writing into a sensory experience connected to traditional Japanese practices.
The Kobe Ink Monogatari series is produced in close collaboration with Sailor, one of Japan’s most respected manufacturers of fountain pen inks and writing instruments. Sailor develops these inks according to Nagasawa’s specifications, ensuring balanced flow, stable color, and reliable performance in fountain pens, faithful to the original vision of the Kobe-based brand.
Bokkou is suitable for both daily writing and more reflective moments. Its elegant black tone works well for journals, correspondence, and personal notes. To fully appreciate both the color and the fragrance, it is recommended to use a transparent fountain pen such as the Pilot Custom 823 Clear, which allows you to observe the ink flow while writing.
