You can inquire about the availability of artisanal units crafted by Ōhashidō that we have in stock by emailing the address provided at the end of the article.
These are handmade pieces, crafted with a foot-operated rokuro lathe in a traditional manner, using antique ebonite from the company's warehouses acquired by Eichi Uehara. Father of Yuuichisan, the current representative of the Uehara family, which has owned the firm since they began producing pens in 1912.
Prices vary, starting with the Urushi series of five pieces, "The Four Seasons of Sato," created by Tateo Sato, a urushi master based in Sendai. It continues with pieces in ebonite without Urushi, featuring different finishes, nibs, sizes, and colors. In addition to the material, prices are determined by the work required for each fountain pen's creation and the nib size, manufactured for Ōhashidō by Sailor in 21k (same size as the 1911 Large) and 14k (size of the Professional Gear Slim or Sapporo).
Due to the materials and entirely manual craftsmanship, do not expect the finish and polish achieved with a digital lathe, with color variations in some grip sections, giving these pieces a uniqueness rarely found in our days.
As most of these fountain pens are available in only one unit, reservations will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. We hope you understand the situation and kindly excuse us if a particular pen is no longer available.
You can request the file at inktraveler@inktraveler.com, and given the size, we will provide you with a download link.
