Pilot Custom 845 - Prussian Blue Fountain Pen

The Pilot Custom 845 - Prussian Blue Fountain Pen perfectly combines traditional Japanese craftsmanship with outstanding writing performance. First introduced in 2002, this distinguished model is renowned for its generous dimensions, exceptional balance, and elegant Prussian Blue urushi finish, which reveals remarkable depth and character under changing light.

Design and materials

The barrel and cap are crafted from hand-turned ebonite, a lightweight and warm material highly valued in premium writing instruments. The surface is finished using the traditional Roiro Urushi technique, a meticulous process involving multiple layers of natural lacquer, each carefully polished by hand. The result is a rich Prussian Blue finish with exceptional visual depth, subtle reflections, and a tactile quality that only genuine urushi can provide.

Nib and filling system

The pen features Pilot’s renowned No. 15 bicolor nib, crafted from 18K gold (750/1000). Known for its smooth performance, controlled ink flow, and comfortable feedback, this nib offers a refined writing experience suitable for both everyday use and extended writing sessions. The filling system accepts Pilot’s high-capacity CON-70 converter as well as standard Pilot ink cartridges, providing excellent versatility.

Nib variations

The Custom 845 is available in four nib sizes to suit different writing styles:

  • F (Fine) – Ideal for precise handwriting and detailed notes.
  • M (Medium) – A balanced choice for daily writing with excellent smoothness.
  • B (Broad) – Produces richer lines and enhances ink shading.
  • BB (Double Broad) – Delivers generous ink flow and strong visual impact.

Box contents

The Pilot Custom 845 is presented in an elegant gift box and includes a CON-70 converter, one Pilot ink cartridge, and official Pilot documentation.
