The Pilot Capless Stripe Silver combines a rhodium-plated brass body with a satin finish and raised longitudinal detailing with a retractable rhodium-plated 18K gold nib. Its push-button mechanism lets you start writing with a single click, without a cap. It accepts Pilot cartridges and comes in its original presentation case with a Pilot CON-40 converter included for use with bottled ink.
The Pilot Capless Stripe Silver Fountain Pen combines the signature Capless retractable mechanism with a silver-coloured body featuring raised longitudinal detailing. Its satin finish, with pearlescent reflections, brings a subtle luminosity without a mirror-like shine. With a single click, the 18K gold nib emerges, ready to write: a distinctive choice for those seeking the convenience of a capless fountain pen and the character of a carefully finished metal body.
The defining feature of this version is the series of elongated lines running along its body. Rather than a pattern simply printed onto the surface, this raised decoration adds texture and emphasises the fountain pen's silhouette. Alternating ridges and grooves create a play of light and shadow, revealing different aspects of the design as the pen is viewed from different angles.
The rhodium-plated brass body undergoes a special polishing process that gives it a silvery, pearlescent appearance, somewhere between matte and glossy. The result is a satin finish that complements the longitudinal detailing without obscuring it beneath strong reflections. The rhodium-plated clip and trim maintain the consistent silver-toned appearance.
The retractable mechanism extends the nib when the rear push button is pressed. Pressing it again retracts the nib into the body, while a small internal shutter closes the front opening. This system protects the writing unit and helps prevent the ink from drying out while the fountain pen is stored.
This operation is particularly convenient for taking notes during meetings, using a planner or switching between writing and other tasks. There is no cap to unscrew or put aside: the push button allows you to move from a protected nib to a fountain pen ready to write, using just one hand.
The Pilot Capless Stripe Silver features a rhodium-plated 18K gold nib, whose silver tone complements the body and exterior trim. Its compact format allows it to fit inside the retractable mechanism while preserving the experience of writing with a gold nib.
It is designed to provide smooth, flowing writing, whether you are jotting down a quick note or filling the pages of a notebook. The Capless retains the experience of a fountain pen while offering the speed and convenience of a push-button writing instrument.
The pen accepts Pilot proprietary ink cartridges or the included Pilot CON-40 converter for use with bottled ink. This converter features a twist-operated piston mechanism, allowing the fountain pen to be refilled from an ink bottle.
The choice between cartridge and converter lets you adapt the filling method to your needs: replace a cartridge when convenience takes priority, or use bottled ink to explore different colours. You can pair the pen with our selection of Pilot Iroshizuku inks.
The Pilot Capless Stripe Silver comes in its original Pilot presentation case and includes the Pilot CON-40 converter for use with bottled ink.
It is a distinctive choice for those who use a fountain pen every day and appreciate the speed of a retractable mechanism, while also seeking an individual texture and finish. The combination of a satin surface and longitudinal relief adds visual interest without relying on bold colours.
Within our selection of Pilot fountain pens, the Stripe Silver stands out for combining the functional design of the Capless with a silver-toned metallic presence. It is equally at home on a professional desk or alongside a personal planner.
Is it made from solid silver?
No. Silver identifies the colour of this version. The body is made from rhodium-plated brass with a satin silver-toned finish.
Is the finish matte or glossy?
Pilot describes an appearance between the two, achieved through a special polishing process. The surface has silvery, pearlescent reflections, making satin a more accurate description than completely matte.
How is the nib protected without a cap?
Pressing the push button retracts the nib into the body, and an internal shutter closes the front opening. This mechanism helps protect the nib and limit ink drying between uses.
Does it include a converter for bottled ink?
Yes. The Pilot CON-40 converter is included. The pen also accepts Pilot proprietary ink cartridges.
Pilot's history began in Japan in 1918, when Ryosuke Namiki and Masao Wada founded Namiki Manufacturing Company, the business from which the brand would develop. Both shared a connection with the maritime world and an ambition to create Japanese writing instruments that could reach a worldwide audience. The name Pilot evokes the pilot who guides a vessel, expressing this determination to lead the way.
In 1963, Pilot launched the first Capless, introducing a different way to use a fountain pen: dispensing with the cap through a retractable nib mechanism. The Stripe Silver continues this functional approach, complemented by raised decoration that highlights the craftsmanship of its metal surface.
Pilot's philosophy is expressed through five principles:
A single click, silver reflections and a fountain pen ready to accompany every word.
