A Japanese fountain pen with a clear, colourless resin body that reveals the ink and its mechanism. It features a Pilot size 5 rhodium-finished 14K gold nib and an integrated piston holding approximately 1.2 ml. Silver-coloured trim and smoked end details complete a design whose appearance changes with every ink. For bottled ink only.
The Pilot Custom Heritage 92 Transparent Fountain Pen makes ink part of its appearance. Its clear, colourless resin barrel reveals the reservoir and piston mechanism, while a 14-carat gold nib completes an understated Japanese design. It is a fountain pen for those who enjoy writing with bottled ink and appreciate both the workings of their pen and the way its appearance changes with each colour.
In this version, the clear barrel displays the ink without the blue or black tint of the coloured finishes. The reservoir, piston and internal components remain visible, making the pen's construction part of its appeal. Smoked end details and silver-coloured metal trim frame the design without drawing attention away from the chosen ink.
Its flat-ended silhouette maintains a simple, distinctive appearance. The screw-on cap protects the nib when the pen is not in use, while the transparent barrel makes it easy to check the remaining ink at a glance. This is a demonstrator design: a fountain pen that reveals its interior rather than concealing it.
The Custom Heritage 92 features an integrated piston with an approximate ink capacity of 1.2 ml. Turning the knob at the rear of the barrel operates the mechanism, drawing ink directly from a bottle. To fill the pen, lower the piston, immerse the nib until the breather hole is covered, then slowly turn the knob in the opposite direction to fill the reservoir.
The Pilot size 5 nib is made from 14K gold with a rhodium finish, which gives it its silver-coloured appearance. The model is offered in F, FM, M and B nib sizes, subject to availability, allowing you to choose the writing width that suits your preferences.
The colourless barrel invites you to enjoy your ink before it reaches the page. Pair this piston-filling fountain pen with Pilot Iroshizuku inks and watch how each shade changes the appearance of the reservoir. A different ink can give the pen a more understated, brighter or more intense character.
Includes one Pilot Custom Heritage 92 Transparent Fountain Pen and its Pilot presentation case. (Photographs are for illustrative purposes, and slight variations from the actual product may occur).
Can it use cartridges or converters?
No. Ink is stored directly inside the barrel using the integrated piston. This fountain pen fills exclusively from an ink bottle and neither requires nor accepts cartridges or converters.
Does the rear knob need to be loosened when writing?
No. The knob should remain closed while writing. It is only operated when filling, emptying or cleaning the reservoir.
How should it be cleaned before changing ink?
Use the piston to draw in and expel clean water several times until the remaining ink has been removed. Do not use alcohol or solvents. Pilot Tsuwairo pigment ink is not compatible with this model.
Since its beginnings in 1918, Pilot has developed its fountain pen manufacturing in Japan, integrating processes that range from preparing the nib alloys to the final finishing stages. This attention to construction treats the fountain pen as a complete instrument: the nib material, its manufacture and the way the pen functions all contribute to the writing experience.
The Custom family began in 1971 with the aim of accommodating different handwriting styles and expressing each user's personality. The Heritage 92 brings that philosophy to a design that reveals its own mechanism. In the clear, colourless version, personal choice is also visible within the reservoir: ink does more than determine what appears on the page; it becomes part of the fountain pen's identity.
“A transparent fountain pen that lets every ink tell a story of its own.”
