Concept and Design

What defines the ideal contemporary fountain pen? At Platinum Pen, the answer includes balance, smooth flow, quick-drying ink, and a reliable seal. Based on feedback from customers, the Century model rethinks every mechanism—starting with the nib and feed—to bring a refined writing tool to life.

It has normally been thought difficult to make an airtight pen with a screw-type cap. If not sealed tightly, the following problems can occur:

• Ink drying out due to moisture evaporation.
• Clogging and flow issues after three to six months of disuse.
• Need for intensive cleaning or even nib replacement if damage is severe.

In response, Platinum developed the world's first “Slip & Seal” system within a screw-type cap. This patented innovation ensures complete airtightness and prevents ink from drying out, even after extended storage. It’s one of the defining features of the Century series.

The pen supports Platinum ink cartridges and includes a converter for bottled inks. With the Slip & Seal cap system, it can be left unused for months without drying. This makes it ideal for both everyday users and collectors who rotate among multiple pens.
