Its glossy black resin barrel, combined with gold-plated details, creates a timeless and refined aesthetic.
Part of the celebrated "Century" line, this fountain pen builds on the success of the original #3776 model with a series of technical enhancements that address real-world writing needs. Whether used daily or occasionally, this pen delivers a consistent and enjoyable writing experience.
What defines the ideal contemporary fountain pen? At Platinum Pen, the answer includes balance, smooth flow, quick-drying ink, and a reliable seal. Based on feedback from customers, the Century model rethinks every mechanism—starting with the nib and feed—to bring a refined writing tool to life.
It has normally been thought difficult to make an airtight pen with a screw-type cap. If not sealed tightly, the following problems can occur:
In response, Platinum developed the world's first “Slip & Seal” system within a screw-type cap. This patented innovation ensures complete airtightness and prevents ink from drying out, even after extended storage. It’s one of the defining features of the Century series.
The pen supports Platinum ink cartridges and includes a converter for bottled inks. With the Slip & Seal cap system, it can be left unused for months without drying. This makes it ideal for both everyday users and collectors who rotate among multiple pens.
Included in the box are a Platinum converter, a blue-black ink cartridge, and a complimentary Inktraveler ink bottle. Everything is housed in a standard gift box—ideal for gifting or safe storage. (Images are for reference only; actual product may vary slightly).
Founded in 1919, Platinum Pen Co. has played a pivotal role in shaping Japan’s fountain pen legacy. With over a century of craftsmanship and innovation, Platinum remains at the forefront of precision writing instruments.
The original #3776 was launched in 1978 to honor Mount Fuji’s height of 3,776 meters—a symbol of aspiration and excellence. It was created by Haruo Umeda, known as “Mr. Fountain Pen,” and sold over 150,000 units in its first six months.
Between 2009 and 2011, the Century model was born out of a major redesign effort informed by over 40,000 writing samples. With new nibs, feeds, and internal structures, the Century represents the pinnacle of Platinum’s engineering achievements.
"Created to endure. Designed to inspire. The 3776 Century is the future of fine writing."
