The Platinum 3776 Higo-Zo-gan Gingko is a rare collector’s fountain pen featuring a pure gold inlaid ring using traditional Japanese damascening. Designed by master Kousuke-san and presented at the G7 summit. Includes complimentary ink bottle.
The Platinum 3776 Pure Gold Higo-Zo-gan Gingko is a rare and refined fountain pen, crafted in matte black ABS resin and adorned with a stunning decorative ring created using the traditional Japanese technique of Higo-Zo-Gan. Unlike lacquer or pigment decoration, this form of damascening uses only steel and pure gold to produce intricate patterns with rich visual depth.
The golden pattern on this pen was exclusively designed by Mr. Kousuke, a veteran tsuba (sword guard) artisan whose family is recognized as master craftsmen of the Higo-Zo-Gan tradition. Very few artisans still practice this centuries-old technique in Japan today.
Higo-Zo-Gan dates back over 400 years and was originally developed to decorate samurai sword fittings and armor accessories. Over time, the technique transitioned into fine craftsmanship for luxury items and daily-use objects, while retaining its historic elegance and symbolism.
This pen was chosen as a symbol of Japanese craftsmanship and officially presented to world leaders during the G7 Summit in Ise-Shima (2016). It is an exceptional collector's item, rarely seen outside Japan and highly appreciated for its cultural and artisanal value.
Equipped with a 14K gold nib, the pen ensures a smooth, controlled writing experience. As a special courtesy, each unit from Inktraveler includes a complimentary ink bottle.
