The Platinum 3776 Century Bourgogne RT Fountain Pen combines elegant aesthetics with functional innovation. Inspired by the rich color of Burgundy wine, this pen features a translucent AS resin body and rhodium-plated trims, offering a refined writing experience in both everyday use and formal settings.
Ideal for collectors and writing enthusiasts alike, its size and weight provide a perfect balance in the hand. The vibrant yet subtle finish captures the depth of a classic red, giving it a timeless appeal suitable for professionals and fountain pen lovers.
One of the pen’s most remarkable features is Platinum’s proprietary Slip & Seal mechanism, designed to solve a common issue among screw-cap pens: ink drying. Traditionally, ensuring an airtight seal in screw-type caps has been difficult. Without proper sealing, ink may evaporate, causing clogs and even permanent nib damage after long periods of inactivity. In response to customer feedback, Platinum developed this patented innovation that allows a completely airtight seal inside a screw-cap fountain pen.
Thanks to the Slip & Seal system, the pen can remain unused for up to a year without the ink drying out, making it ideal for both daily writers and occasional users. It uses Platinum proprietary ink cartridges or the included 700A converter, offering flexibility for bottled inks.
Each pen includes a Platinum 700A converter and a blue-black ink cartridge. A complimentary ink bottle is included courtesy of inktraveler. The pen is housed in an elegant gift box suitable for storage or presentation. (Images are for reference only. Actual product may vary slightly.)
Founded in 1919, Platinum Pen Co. is one of Japan’s most respected fountain pen manufacturers. The brand is known for its commitment to craftsmanship and constant innovation. The 3776 series takes its name from the height of Mount Fuji—3,776 meters—Japan’s tallest and most iconic peak.
The original #3776 model was released in 1978 and designed by renowned writing expert Haruo Umeda—nicknamed “Mr. Fountain Pen”—in collaboration with Platinum’s design team. Their goal was to create the ideal fountain pen. Within just six months of launch, over 150,000 units had been sold, solidifying the model’s enduring success.
Between 2009 and 2011, Platinum undertook a full-scale technical renewal based on over 40,000 writing data samples collected by its subsidiary, Nakaya. This effort led to the complete redesign of the nib, feed, and all key components of the new “Motosu” and “Century” models—crafted with new molds, new machinery, and a fresh design philosophy focused on performance and refinement.
"Write confidently, even after months—thanks to the airtight elegance of Platinum."
