Pilot Custom 743 Tsuru MF Nibmeister Fountain Pen

(Pilot Custom 743 Tsuru MF Nibmeister Pluma Estilográfica)

Few nibs generate as much fascination among writing enthusiasts as those modified by nibmeisters. This Pilot Custom 743 holds a rare gem inside: a handcrafted modification that radically enhances the writing experience, offering fluid, expressive strokes for those seeking something truly special.

Ideal for advanced users, collectors, and lovers of line variation who appreciate a unique touch at every writing angle.

Concept and Design

The Pilot Custom 743 features the elegant and professional design that defines this series, with a glossy black resin body and gold details. The tsuru (Crane) nib of this Pilot Custom 743 is nibmeister José Munuera from Niblab's interpretation of the classic Naginata Togi. Starting with a Coarse size 15 nib and through meticulous grinding, it achieves line variation based on the writing angle: fine when writing at a higher angle (more perpendicular to the paper), medium at a normal writing angle, and broad when writing at a lower angle.

The iridium modified by Niblab also incorporates a line variation between horizontal and vertical strokes, allowing for writing with greater nuance.

Filling System

The Pilot Custom 743 uses the brand’s classic filling system, compatible with both cartridges and converters. While it can be used with the CON-40, at Inktraveler we recommend the CON-70 converter for its larger ink capacity, allowing for extended writing sessions without interruptions.

Box Contents

Brand History and Philosophy

Founded in 1918, Pilot is a benchmark in Japanese writing excellence. The Custom series was designed to offer a wide variety of nibs and adapt to each personal style. The Custom 743 stands out for its balance, its mid-to-large body size, and its ability to accommodate special nibs like this Tsuru MF. This philosophy of customization and craftsmanship is also at the heart of Inktraveler, and is brilliantly embodied in this one-of-a-kind nibmeister edition.

“Every stroke tells a story. Let your writing soar like a crane.”
