The Sailor 1911L Pearl Blue GT 14K Fountain Pen combines the classic 1911 silhouette with a Large 14K gold nib designed for writers who prefer a slightly firmer feel within Sailor's gold nib range. Made from PMMA resin with Gold IP details, it uses Sailor cartridges or a compatible converter and is offered in a choice of colors and nib widths.
The Sailor 1911L Pearl Blue GT 14K Fountain Pen combines the classic design of the 1911 series with a Large 14K gold nib, giving this model a distinctive presence within the range. Sailor developed this nib for writers who appreciate the character of a gold nib while preferring a slightly firmer, more controlled writing feel.
This fountain pen is particularly well suited to those looking for a generously sized Sailor with traditional styling and a gold nib for everyday writing. The GT finish pairs a PMMA resin body with Gold IP metal details, preserving the understated, instantly recognisable character of Sailor's classic fountain pens.
The 1911 name is used internationally for one of Sailor's classic fountain pen families, while in the Japanese market this line is known as Profit. At Inktraveler, we use the 1911L designation for this fountain pen in keeping with its international commercial name.
Its characteristic rounded ends reflect a deliberately traditional approach to fountain pen design. In this version, the generous proportions of the body are complemented by a Large nib, creating a visually balanced pen with a noticeably greater presence than Sailor's smaller models.
The defining feature of this model is its Large 14K gold nib. Sailor developed this version with a greater presence than its previous fountain pens fitted with 14K gold nibs and recommends it for writers who prefer a slightly firmer writing feel within the brand's range of gold nibs.
The barrel, cap and grip section are made from PMMA resin, while the metal components feature a Gold IP finish. This combination preserves the traditional appearance of the 1911L GT, with the gold-coloured trim and gold nib forming a visually coherent design.
Measuring Ø18 × 141 mm including the clip and weighing 21.6 g, the pen offers generous proportions without relying on a heavy metal construction. It is an appealing choice for writers looking for a substantial Japanese fountain pen while retaining the classic design language closely associated with Sailor.
Sailor produces this model in Black, Red, Blue and Green.
The official nib range includes EF, F, MF, M, B, Zoom and Music. If you are looking for a colour and nib combination that is not currently available in our shop, please email us at inktraveler@inktraveler.com and we will be happy to check its availability.
The Sailor 1911L GT 14K uses Sailor's cartridge and converter filling system. Cartridges provide a quick and convenient option for everyday use, while a compatible Sailor converter allows the pen to be filled directly from an ink bottle, opening up a much wider choice of fountain pen inks and colours.
The official presentation includes the fountain pen and two Sailor black ink cartridges. A converter is not listed by Sailor among the accessories supplied with this model and must therefore be purchased separately if you wish to use bottled ink. Founded in Japan in 1911, Sailor has spent more than a century developing writing instruments in which the nib plays a central role. The Profit series was introduced in 1981 and became one of the company's representative fountain pen families, internationally associated with the 1911 series. Its distinctive rounded silhouette has become one of Sailor's most recognisable designs, preserving a deliberately traditional interpretation of the classic fountain pen.
Over the years, Sailor has developed this family through different sizes, finishes and nibs without losing that identity. The 1911L GT 14K offers a particularly interesting interpretation of the design, combining the series' traditional proportions with a Large 14K gold nib developed to provide a slightly firmer feel within Sailor's range of gold nibs.
“A classic fountain pen finds its personality the moment the nib meets the paper.”
