Sailor Souboku Blue Grey 50 ml Fountain Pen Ink is a permanent pigment ink developed with ultra-fine pigment particles. Its elegant blue grey colour combines excellent readability, outstanding durability and smooth writing performance, making it ideal for documents, illustration and everyday fountain pen use.
The Sailor Souboku Blue Grey 50 ml Fountain Pen Ink is one of the most sophisticated pigment inks developed by Sailor. Created using proprietary ultra-fine pigment particle technology, it combines exceptional water resistance and long-term durability with a smooth and enjoyable writing experience. Its elegant blue-grey colour offers a refined alternative to traditional blue and black inks, making it highly appreciated by writers, professionals, artists and enthusiasts of Japanese fountain pen inks.
Souboku uses the same advanced ultra-fine pigment technology found in Sailor's renowned permanent inks. These exceptionally small pigment particles were developed to minimise the clogging issues traditionally associated with pigment-based inks while delivering a writing experience remarkably similar to that of a dye-based ink.
Thanks to this advanced formulation, the ink maintains a stable flow even in fine Japanese nibs, providing a reliable and comfortable writing experience during everyday use.
Souboku is distinguished by its unique colour, positioned between deep blue and soft grey. The result is a sophisticated, understated and elegant tone that offers excellent readability while adding a distinctive character to the written page.
This refined colour is particularly attractive for users seeking an alternative to conventional blue inks while remaining softer and less formal than black. Its discreet appearance makes it suitable for professional documents, journals, correspondence, notebooks and creative writing.
Once dry on paper, Souboku offers excellent water resistance and outstanding long-term stability. These characteristics make it an excellent choice for important documents, personal archives, manuscripts and any writing intended for long-term preservation.
Sailor also highlights the ink's low tendency to bleed through paper and its resistance to show-through. These qualities make it particularly suitable for illustration, technical drawing and applications where precision is important.
Despite being a permanent pigment ink, Souboku delivers a smooth, stable and highly enjoyable writing experience. Its relatively fast drying time helps minimise smudging during everyday use, while its colour remains highly legible even when used with fine nibs.
As with any pigment-based ink, regular cleaning of the fountain pen is recommended to ensure optimal long-term performance.
To fully appreciate the subtle blue-grey tones of Souboku, we recommend using high-quality Japanese papers such as the Midori Cotton Pad A5 Blank or the Life Ginkouka Paper Pad. These papers showcase the ink's colour complexity, line definition and excellent stability particularly well.
