Teranishi FUJIYAMA IRODORI Sakura Pink 12 ml Fountain Pen Ink brings a gentle pink inspired by Japanese cherry blossoms and the changing appearance of Mount Fuji to the page. Its compact size makes it easier to enjoy a distinctive shade without committing to a large bottle. It is well suited to fountain pen users, collectors of Japanese stationery and anyone looking for a small writing-related gift.
Mount Fuji was inscribed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage property in 2013 for its importance as an object of worship and a source of artistic inspiration. Its appearance changes with the season, weather and time of day, producing a varied landscape that has influenced Japanese art and visual culture for centuries.
FUJIYAMA IRODORI turns that relationship between landscape, colour and artistic expression into a six-ink collection. Sakura Pink represents the series through a calm cherry-blossom pink, bringing a recognisably Japanese seasonal reference to journals, letters, notes and creative writing.
This water-based ink is formulated for fountain pens and can be used for daily notes, journaling, correspondence, calligraphy and small illustrations. Its appearance may shift with the paper, nib width, amount of ink deposited and surrounding light. These variables allow Sakura Pink to reveal different nuances across individual pen and paper combinations.
Before changing colours, empty the previous ink and rinse the fountain pen’s nib section with clean water. Close the bottle securely after every use to limit evaporation. The ink should also be stored away from high temperatures, excessive humidity and direct sunlight.
The package contains one glass bottle filled with 12 ml of Sakura Pink ink, finished with an aluminium cap and supplied in a paper outer box. Its small footprint makes it easy to store and useful for writers who rotate several colours. The original packaged product is supplied by Inktraveler. (Photographs are illustrative; the displayed shade may differ from the original product depending on the screen, paper and writing conditions).

The FUJIYAMA IRODORI series comprises San, Sakura, Rin, Akane, Zen and Sai. Each colour presents another interpretation of Mount Fuji and Japan’s traditional colour sensibility. Sakura Pink is the collection’s pink variant and draws its identity from the image of cherry blossoms within the Japanese landscape.
Will it work in every fountain pen? It is intended for fountain pens that accept bottled ink through a converter, piston or another compatible filling system. A cartridge-only pen will require the correct converter before it can draw ink from the bottle.
Is Sakura Pink permanent or waterproof? Teranishi identifies it as a water-based ink and does not market it as permanent or waterproof. Writing that must withstand moisture should be produced with an ink specifically designed and tested for that purpose.
What is the advantage of a 12 ml bottle? The smaller volume makes it easier to explore a special colour, rotate several inks and finish a bottle. It also requires little storage space, making it practical for writers who keep multiple pens inked in different shades.
How should a fountain pen be cleaned before changing colours? Empty the previous ink and rinse the nib section with clean water until it runs clear. Allow it to drain before filling with Sakura Pink so residue from another colour or formulation does not alter the new ink.
Teranishi is the surname of the company’s founder, Choichi Teranishi. After spending three years learning how to manufacture ink, he established the workshop that would become Teranishi Chemical Industry in Osaka in April 1916 at only 18 years of age. Its first products included writing ink and coloured pencils made in Japan, at a time when fountain pens were becoming more widely used and imported stationery still shaped much of the market.
The young company worked to create Japanese writing and art materials capable of competing with imported products. As Teranishi expanded into new markets, colour, practical writing and artistic expression remained central to its identity. That background helps explain why its modern collections combine technical experience with carefully developed cultural and visual themes.
Guitar is Teranishi Chemical’s historic commercial mark. According to the manufacturer, Guitar Mark became an established brand for its export products in 1931 and was later extended to the Japanese market. Its exact origin has not been documented, but Teranishi preserves two possible explanations: the popularity of guitars in the Philippines, an important early export destination, and the association between the rich colours of art and musical notes.
The earliest Guitar emblem depicted Benzaiten holding a traditional Japanese biwa. It later changed to an image of a queen with a guitar before developing into the present symbol, which combines a crown, a musical note and the six letters of GUITAR. This visual identity connects Teranishi’s experience in ink and art materials with the worlds of music and colour.
Teranishi’s history is also defined by resilience. Its facilities and materials were destroyed during the bombing of Osaka in 1945, yet production resumed in February 1946. In 1953 the company developed Magic Ink, which it recognises as Japan’s first domestically produced oil-based marking pen. Its modern fountain pen inks reconnect this technical history with the writing products that began the business.
FUJIYAMA IRODORI carries that century-long experience forward through a collection created for writing, drawing and communication. Its Mount Fuji theme brings together Japanese landscape, visual memory and the everyday pleasure of using a fountain pen.
“Let a quiet shade of Japan travel across every page.”
