The Taccia Granite Stone – Red is a Japanese ebonite fountain pen with a bicolor Sailor nib and a lacquered body that evokes the texture of granite. A unique blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern elegance.
The word "granite" originates from the Latin "granum," meaning "grain," referring to the crystalline structure of this rock. In Japan, granite has long been valued for its durability and beauty, widely used in architecture and sculpture.
The Taccia Granite Stone Fountain Pen – Red captures the essence of granite through a special lacquering technique that mimics its natural appearance. Each piece shows unique tonal variations that reflect the depth and richness of this stone, even in its darkest shades. The barrel is made of Japanese ebonite, a traditional material that adds warmth and personality.
The Taccia Granite Stone encapsulates the essence of granite in its design, capturing the tonal variability that makes this stone shine in nine magnificent colors—even in its darkest hues. Each shade reflects the natural beauty and depth of granite, creating a bold and distinguished look.
Equipped with a bicolor stainless steel nib made by Sailor, this pen provides a smooth, precise, and enjoyable writing experience. It uses Sailor cartridges or converters (included), offering flexibility for different writing preferences.

Taccia was founded in 2003 by Shu-Jen Lin in California with the goal of offering fountain pens that blend traditional Japanese techniques—such as urushi lacquer and raden (mother-of-pearl)—with minimalist, modern design. The brand initially focused on the U.S. and Canadian markets, standing out for its use of ebonite and refined aesthetics.
In 2011, the American division of Japanese company Itoya acquired Taccia and retained its founder as Brand Manager of Itoya USA to preserve the original design identity. This move helped expand Taccia’s presence while maintaining its creative spirit.
On April 1, 2018, Taccia was acquired by Nakabayashi Co., Ltd., a stationery manufacturer founded in 1923 in Osaka. This acquisition reinforced Taccia’s commitment to Japanese craftsmanship, combining traditional artistry with contemporary design. Today, Taccia is known for its dedication to quality, precision, and cultural authenticity.
"Each stroke with the Taccia Granite Stone connects you to the material, the heritage, and the quiet beauty of Japan."
