Concept & Design
The Taccia Covenant is a direct heir to the Japanese Yatates used during the Edo period. Yatate can literally be translated as “arrow quiver” or “sheath,” and it served as a solution for transporting brushes and ink without risk of spills. The brush was completely inserted into its sheath, secured by the distal end of the handle. Taccia applies this traditional design in the Covenant model, where the fountain pen is fully inserted into the cap and protected from scratches—both on the body and on its magnificent two-tone 14K gold nib, manufactured by Sailor for the Izumo-based company. The threaded cap closes securely and aligns perfectly with the body when posted, offering a seamless appearance without interruptions in color or texture.
Functionality & Filling System
Equipped with a two-tone 14K gold nib, this pen delivers a smooth and consistent ink flow, ideal for daily writing, calligraphy, or quick sketches. The filling system uses a single Sailor short ink cartridge, providing a precise fit and reliable ink supply. The smooth threading allows the cap to be screwed and unscrewed in a single turn, preventing misalignment and ensuring the pen is ready to write instantly. The ergonomic grip section, with an 11 mm diameter, comfortably conforms to the fingers, allowing for extended writing sessions without fatigue. The total length of 144 mm (when capped) and the pen’s 38 g weight strike the ideal balance between portability and stability.
