The Eboya Yuzen Shinryou Dragon God is a beige marbled ebonite fountain pen inspired by the celestial dragon of East Asian mythology. Fitted with a 14K gold nib, it combines a high-capacity eyedropper system with the practicality of standard international cartridge or converter. Includes a premium paulownia wood case courtesy of Inktraveler.
Eboya is Japan’s last remaining ebonite manufacturer. Each pen reflects a deep commitment to traditional craftsmanship and technical innovation. Ebonite—one of the earliest polymers—results from vulcanizing pure rubber with sulfur (25% to 50%), valued for its durability, sheen, and warm feel. Every pen is engraved with Eboya Made in Tokyo, a true mark of authenticity and excellence.
The colour Shinryou (神龍)—which can be translated as “Dragon God”—is inspired by the mythical figure of Shenlong, the spiritual dragon of Chinese mythology who controls rain, storms, and agricultural fate. In Japan, he is known as Shinryū or Shinryou. This legendary being, revered by emperors, represents heavenly power and natural harmony. The pen, in a refined beige marbled tone, conveys serenity and the restrained strength of this creature. With a diameter of 13.6 mm—identical to the Natsume and Houju medium-sized models—it ensures stability and ergonomics, while its solid build makes it feel surprisingly robust and comfortable in hand.
The Yuzen Shinryou features an eyedropper system that allows direct filling of the body with ink, offering a capacity of up to 3 cc. This makes it an ideal choice for heavy writers seeking long autonomy. Filling is straightforward:
In addition, the Yuzen Shinryou can be used with standard international cartridges and converters, just like all other Eboya models. This dual system makes it highly versatile. Pelikan cartridges are especially recommended for compatibility.

Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight or humidity. Store in a cool, dry place. Wipe with a soft cloth. When using the eyedropper system, rinse the barrel before changing inks.
Eboya is the flagship brand of Nikko Ebonite Manufacturing, founded in 1952 and known as Japan’s last ebonite specialist. For decades it supplied this material to leading pen makers such as Sailor and Pilot. In 2009, it launched its own line of fountain pens, combining technical expertise with refined Japanese aesthetics. Today, Eboya continues to produce durable, comfortable writing instruments with unmistakable craftsmanship.
"An homage to the celestial dragon: power, serenity, and harmony in every stroke."
