Platinum 3776 Century Calico Celluloid Fountain Pen
The Platinum 3776 Century Calico is a fountain pen that brings warmth and refinement together through the use of traditional Japanese celluloid. The body features a mottled pattern in cream, ivory, and brown tones — reminiscent of a calico cat's coat — making each piece visually unique. In Japanese culture, calico cats (mike-neko) are considered symbols of luck and protection. The famous maneki-neko — the beckoning cat — is traditionally depicted with calico markings, and due to genetic rarity, most calico cats are female, adding to their charm and symbolic value. This pen carries that same spirit: expressive, elegant, and full of character.
After more than six months of curing, the celluloid is carefully shaped and polished to achieve a rich and tactile finish. The pen is fitted with a 14K gold nib featuring Platinum’s signature heart-shaped breather hole, ensuring a smooth and responsive writing experience. It also includes the brand’s patented “Slip & Seal” mechanism that keeps ink from drying out for extended periods of time.
Care and maintenance
To keep your pen in excellent condition:
Avoid applying pressure to the nib or dropping the pen
Clean the nib with a dry cloth only; never use solvents or metal polishes
Flush the nib with warm water monthly to remove ink residue
Change ink colors only after a full cleaning cycle
Note: Celluloid is flammable and sensitive to heat and sunlight. Store away from direct light and keep ink from contacting the cap or barrel surface.
Filling system: Cartridge or converter (both included)
